Journal Entry 001 — Just Start (and it’ll click)
So here it is — Entry One. Our first official journal post. Feels a bit surreal writing this... but also very on brand. Because honestly? This whole thing started because we were frustrated students whose cables turned into rat nests inside our backpacks every morning.
Arik and I were at the University of Bristol, constantly shuttling between libraries, lectures, and busy cafes. Every single time we pulled out a laptop charger or an iPhone wire, it took five minutes of awkward unknotting. We looked everywhere for a neat automatic winder, but everything on Amazon had cheap, dangerous cords pre-installed inside.
Why couldn't someone just make a sleek shell that worked with the Apple cables we already spent $30 on? Arik had access to 3D printers in the engineering workshop, so we decided to sketch a prototype. It wasn't pretty on day one — but the moment the spring clicked and retracted the cable smoothly, we knew we had something real.
Small Steps, Big Clicks
We entered the University of Bristol New Enterprise Competition, tested hundreds of spring iterations, and won seed funding to take Pebbl to the next level. Starting was scary, but taking that first step made everything click.
